Dream d2707-s: The Far Rise Answers

I had a dream where...

I had a dream where I crossed to the far edge of Zephyrden on the fifth night and the wall there had fallen low enough to see over. On the far slope, a second ruin. The roof long gone, the walls held but soft at the top, the whole thing going back the way Zephyrden is going: slowly, without event.

Lano stood beside me at the fallen wall and looked where I looked. Her ears came forward. After a while she gave a single low sound, almost a word, something that came out close to otra, and then she was quiet.

I wrote it in the second book. Two places gone to green. Zephyrden is one of them and that place on the far slope is the other. Neither has a keeper. Both are cold.

Rurik had come through a gap lower in the wall and was making his way along the top of the standing section, placing each foot with precision, until he found a flat stone at the corner and settled with his front paws tucked under him. He did not look at me. He looked at the far ruin. His tail moved once and stopped.

The light was going. I could not read the far place in any detail. I wrote what I could see: walls standing, green taking the roof line, one approach visible from this distance and possibly others on the sides I could not see. Cold. No roads out that I could count from here.

I did not cross to it tonight. It is in the book and it will be there when the round comes to it.

Zephyrden and the far ruin faced each other across the open field. I stood between them and wrote that there were two. That is the whole of what tonight asked.
