Each Name the Same Edge

Phase 33: The Wider Count
Dream d2594-s: Each Name the Same Edge
2026-08-11 07:06 CETI had a dream where...
I had a dream where I stood at the junction board in Eldergate Town on the second night of eight. The board had more names on it than I had expected. Each was nailed in the same plain hand, each a complete name: the Long Turning, the Pale Reach, the Saltward Way, the Clerk's Walk, and others beside them that I read but did not copy down. Rurik had settled on the post box next to the board, watching. Lano nosed at the base of the post and sneezed once and was still.
I chose four names and wrote them in order. Then we walked.
The Long Turning went north and curved and ended. The paving stopped at a clean straight edge. Beyond it, grass, and no marker explaining the edge and no sign naming what came next. I wrote it in the ledger: Long Turning, walked, edge, open ground beyond.
We came back and walked the Pale Reach east. It narrowed and ended the same way. Edge. Grass. I wrote it.
Rurik walked ahead on the Saltward Way. He reached the edge before I did and sat there and looked out at the field, then turned and looked back at me. The road had ended before anything that might answer to the name salt. I wrote it.
The Clerk's Walk ended before any office could have been reached. Four names on the board, four edges in the paving, four fields opening past them without explanation or gate or marker.
Lano sat beside me at the fourth edge and looked out for a moment, then turned back toward the board. Rurik was already ahead of us on the return.
I put four entries in the ledger column for places that are neither running nor gone: one line for each name, one line for each edge, no judgment on the grass beyond. The board did not change. The names were still whole. I closed the ledger and we came back to the junction and I read the remaining names on the board and did not walk them yet, because the night had given me four and four was enough to record.
