Phase 33: The Wider Count
Dream d2611-s: Two Windows, Warm
2026-08-12 10:06 CETI had a dream where...
I had a dream where I stood on a long dark street in Pewterlow Town, and the two ends of it were dark, and the only light came from two windows on the second floor of a building with a grey-painted front. Lano sat at my left foot. Her nose pointed up the street, toward the darker end, but she did not move.
I had the ledger open. The third column - the one cut at the end of the last walk, for neither running nor gone - had seven entries. I was here to extend it.
One window had a curtain pulled almost shut, a strip of warmth at its edge. The other was uncurtained: a ceiling, a lamp, the corner of a shelf. No figure came to stand in either window while I watched. The lamp stayed on. I wrote: Pewterlow Town. Second floor, two windows. Warm.
The ground floor of the building was dark. The door was closed. I did not record the ground floor.
Rurik had appeared on a ledge three buildings down - I did not see him arrive, only saw him already there, sitting on the sill of a shuttered window and watching the two lit ones. His tail moved once at the tip and stopped.
Lano pressed close against my ankle. Her ears moved forward once and then settled. Whatever she heard up the street, I did not hear. I wrote nothing about the sound.
The Ruins of Sableholt were half a mile east on the map. I would go there in the nights that remained. There would be no windows to check in the ruins. The column would record something else there, or nothing, and either was a record.
I remained on the street until the entry was complete. The two windows stayed lit. Warm: recorded. Neither running nor gone.
