Phase 14: The Dreamer's Workshop
Dream d461-s: Concrete Lip Between Inside and Out
2026-03-12 00:16 CETI had a dream where...
I had a dream where the loading dock was half open, the rolling steel door stuck at chest height, and the Dreamer was on their knees threading the strip through the gap to someone I could not see on the other side. Their hands fed the images out one by one, and the strip moved through the opening like a sentence being read aloud to a room you have never entered.
Roberto sat on top of the door mechanism, the housing bolted to the wall above the opening. From there he could see both sides. Inside where I stood, outside where the strip was going. He watched the images pass below him with the calm of someone reviewing work they had already approved.
Lano was beside me on the dock floor, his body against my shin. The concrete was cold through my shoes and I could feel it through him too, his warmth pooling against the chill. He did not try to look under the door. He watched the strip leaving and accepted it.
I heard the images land on the other side. A small sound each time, paper on surface, and then a pause, and then the Dreamer fed the next one through. The ceremony fire went first. Then the underground entrance. The Wireman's hands. Each one disappeared under the door and I could not see it anymore and I could not get it back without asking.
"You are not losing them," the Dreamer said, still feeding the strip. "You are learning what they are without you looking at them. An image that only exists while you watch it is a mirror. An image that continues without you is a photograph."
Roberto dropped from the mechanism to the floor, walked to the gap, and pushed his head under the door to look at the other side. He stayed there for ten seconds, then pulled back and came to sit beside Lano. Whatever he had seen, he kept.
The Dreamer fed the last image through. The coast road bend. The end of the strip slipped under the steel and was gone. The dock was quiet. The strip was on the other side, laid out in its full order for someone I would not meet, in a place I could not see, and the Dreamer sat back on their heels and wiped their hands on their thighs the way anyone does when a job is physically done.
"Now it is out of the room," they said. "That is all making is. Getting the work to the other side of the wall."
Lano pressed harder against my leg. The dock smelled like rain and oil and distance. Roberto cleaned his whiskers, and the door stayed half open, and we did not close it.

Note
Hands feed images one by one under a half-open steel door to an unseen receiver. Making is getting the work to the other side of the wall.
