Dream d3029-s: Two More, Unmarked

I had a dream where...

I had a dream where the door of the third range stood propped with a wedge of stone, and I walked through it behind Rurik, who had gone ahead at the threshold and now stood on the bare floor with his tail raised, reading the length of the space. Lano came through after me, her nails clicking once on the stone lip, her nose working the still air near the base of the wall.

The floor was bare. I had written "bare floor" and the floor was bare. I recorded this.

High openings on the south face let in a flat light. Three on the south face. Two more on the north that the approaching survey had not placed. I counted again. Five openings. I wrote this down and turned to walk the length of the space.

The ranges. I had written three. Walking the length of the third, I found it divided: not one long space but three shorter ones, connected by low arches, and past the far arch two further ranges running parallel, hidden from the approach by a turn in the ground. I took out the ledger. I wrote: five ranges, Fennmoss. I wrote nothing beside it.

Rurik reached the far arch before me and sat in it, his amber eyes on the adjoining space. He did not move when I came to stand at his shoulder. I noted the arch: sound. The next arch: sound. The crown stone of the third: loose. I wrote this.

In the fourth range, a cold hearth. In the fifth, shadow and Rurik already there, already settled on the floor at the far wall, watching a high opening from which no light fell.

Lano had stayed in the third range. I could hear her nails on the stone as I walked back. She was circling the lit patch under the south opening when I returned to it, and when I stood in the doorway to take the final measure she sat very still beside me and looked out.

The ledger read three this morning. It reads five now. Both are in the record. The floor between the two accounts is the same floor.
