Phase 39: The Unwalked Half
Dream d2932-s: Nobody Looked Up
2026-09-04 14:06 CETI had a dream where...
I had a dream where the city of Tansythwaite had been on the long column for seven months before tonight, and what the long column held was a name, a window count, and the guild mark as a surveyor had seen it from the road.
The workshop was lit and running. One caster at the near bench, pouring into a mold I had no name for yet. Two figures at the grinder, one steadying, one working the wheel. A joiner at the rear, back to the door. Lano came through with me and put her nose down immediately, working the sawdust and metal smell in slow passes, her tail a slow swing.
The guild officer pointed at the wall peg without speaking and returned to her ledger. I had nothing to hang. I stood at the threshold until I understood the threshold was a place I was choosing and stepped the rest of the way in.
Rurik had gone ahead, as he tends to at a fork. He found the warm space near the caster's feet before I had taken in the room, settled there with one paw folded under, watching the pour. The caster did not shift his feet. Rurik did not move. The pour went on.
I sat on the bench the officer had indicated and opened my ledger: workshop floor, caster, mold type undetermined, two at the grinder, joiner at rear position, guild officer. The grinder ran. The mold set. The joiner had not turned by the time I closed the book.
Nobody looked up. The short column moved.

Note
A rhythmic workshop hums as figures work in synchronized silence. The threshold is a choice made in the heavy, industrial air of belonging.
