Dream d2717-s: Older Than the Hall

I had a dream where...

I had a dream where the road to the Ruins of Pewterlow ran straight for a long time before the walls became a shape distinct from the sky. Lano walked at my heel without pulling. The road was sound. There were no recent wheel marks on it.

At the foot of the walls I opened the second book and wrote the date and the name of the place. The walls of the Ruins of Pewterlow are older than the Hall by four hundred and seventeen years. I wrote that number in the record and went no further with it.

Lano pressed against my leg for a moment, then stepped away and put her nose to the base of the stone. I did not know what she was reading there. I wrote: the walls are cold. The place is in good order.

The roads out are more than those out of any other place in the second book. I noted each one and the condition of its approach. None of them held any movement. I recorded this also, without remark.

I wrote the number again at the bottom of the page: four hundred and seventeen years before the Hall. Then I closed the book.
