Dream d2698-s: Every Spindle in Line

I had a dream where...

I had a dream where I stepped into the doorway of the front room at Mossfell and did not go further in at first. The chairs were pushed in. That was the first thing I saw and the thing I needed to record.

Lano pressed through ahead of me and went straight to the near end of the table. She nosed along the baseboard, then sat.

The table is a plain rectangular table, longer than it is wide. The chairs on the two long sides are three to a side, pushed in so that the front legs are just clear of the table edge. Each chair back shows its spindles above the tabletop. They are all at the same height from the floor. I wrote: six chairs. Four on the long sides, three per side. One at each head. All in contact with the floor. No chair displaced from its position.

I stepped in and walked to the far head. Lano followed and sat beside me. I checked the far chair: pushed in, upright, its legs resting square. I wrote that down too.

The room was light enough. The windows face west and the last of the evening had not entirely gone. There was a quality to the surfaces, the table, the chair seats, the mantle, that indicated they had not been touched in some time. I noted this as a general observation without attaching a duration to it, because a duration was not what the book required.

I wrote: the front room at Mossfell contains six chairs, all in their positions at the table. The room is in good order. The second book holds this.

Lano went to the door again before I finished writing. Her tail moved once when I looked up.
