Dream d2613-s: All Names, None Struck

I had a dream where...

I had a dream where the roll was fixed to the wall at Sableholt with four iron tacks, one at each corner, and the bottom of it hung to the ground. I lifted the lantern and read from the top. Thirty-seven names, written in a hand that kept its size all the way down, which takes care over a long column. Not one was struck through.

Lano sat beside me on the rubble and did not move. Her ears were forward. She watched the parchment as though it might do something, and it did not.

The names were arranged in two columns. The left ran to twenty and the right to seventeen. The right column had wider spacing between lines, as though room had been left for additions. No additions had been made. At the foot of the parchment there was a line pressed in for a seal. The line was empty.

I entered what I saw into the ledger. Place: the Ruins of Sableholt. Count: thirty-seven. Strike-throughs: none. Closing seal: none. Closing date: none. Column for condition: neither running nor gone.

Lano nosed the bottom edge of the roll where it touched the floor, then came back and pressed against my leg. I finished the entry. The roll stayed where it was. I left the tacks in the wall.
